Note: APA operates on a 37.5-hour work week with one hour lunch breaks each day. APA sets salaries based on several considerations, including years of relevant experience, level of education, and previous staff and/or governance experience at APA.

DESCRIPTION:

Serving as a Business Analyst, this role will be an integral part of the Finance, Budget, and Human Resources (FBH) agile team. The primary objective is to enhance the financial systems and business processes of the association through business analysis. The main tasks will include conducting detailed business process and requirements analysis to understand and improve the association's financial systems, identifying and resolving system/application issues through analytical problem-solving, documenting business processes to ensure clarity and efficiency, and coordinating user acceptance testing to validate system functionality and improvements. This role demands a team-oriented individual with a strong analytical mindset. The ability to articulate complex cross-organizational business processes and their implications on support systems is essential. Through this business analysis integration, the position aims to drive continuous improvement and efficiency in the association's financial operations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information management, business administration, business/systems analysis, or accounting required.
  • A minimum of 6 years' experience in business and process analysis or a related field.
  • Experience with Financial/ERP systems and system integration especially general accounting, sales (order to cash processing), expense management (procure to pay), budget/planning, and HR/Payroll are essential.
  • Proven experience in business analysis within a financial context, including the ability to understand and articulate the strategic value of IT to the business.
  • Experience with business process modeling and business use case development.
  • Ability to analyze complex business processes, troubleshoot/solution common system issues, identify automation opportunities, define RPA value proposition, reengineer processes to improve automation position, and recommend RPA approach/strategy.
  • Able to demonstrate significant knowledge of GAAP and other basic accounting concepts.
  • Experience participating in top-performing agile teams.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in business intelligence tools and data analysis software, and experience with documenting business processes, data flows, requirements, test scenarios, and integrations is a must.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end business functions supported by ERP systems, including integrated solutions. These processes include quote to cash, procure to pay, sales order processing and fulfillment, EDI Processing, eCommerce, inventory management, and invoicing.
  • Experience with business analysis tools (like Balsamiq, Lucidchart) for creating wireframes, flowcharts, etc.
  • Understanding of routine accounting processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with RPA strategies and technologies desired.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, Visio, and Teams required.
  • Experience with ERP systems and the business processes supported by them is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central software is a plus.
  • Experience with Jira/Confluence or similar systems is desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work as a member of the FBH team using the agile framework to provide analysis support for financial applications and integrations. Document requirements to add new features and functionality in a continuous release schedule according to the priorities set by the business.
  • Engage in a dynamic partnership with SMEs and developers to affirm business objectives, articulate requirements, analyze and refine business processes, identify enhancement opportunities, and guide the direction of solution development.
  • Facilitate workshops/meetings to gather business requirements and translate them into process improvements and/or system enhancements.
  • Assist in the development of business cases for enhancements and projects. Design and conduct UAT and regression test cases, coordinate with development teams to ensure new functionalities align with business needs and assist business units in defining business and scope statements that reflect process improvements for increased operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to effectively translate identified process enhancements into actionable user stories for development, while also aiding in the creation of acceptance criteria and the execution of UAT to ensure successful implementation.
  • Analyze and document processes and workflows to understand the value chain and input/output to improve and/or automate business performance.
  • Research and evaluate opportunities related to process flow variance.
  • Monitor the progress of process improvements to ensure expected benefits are achieved.
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships by interacting effectively at all levels of the business.

Other Duties as Assigned:

Provide advice and counsel to the user community with opportunities for operational efficiencies through improved utilization of the systems.
