Description

The Washington College Department of Business Management seeks candidates for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in Organizational Behavior for a two-year position beginning August 2024. Organizational Behavior is the ethical exploration of how organizations function. Topics include leadership, culture, vision, decision-making, bureaucracy and teams, motivation, interpersonal dynamics, power, communication, gender, and diversity in organizations. Each semester candidates should be prepared to teach two sections of Organizational Behavior and one additional course in Entrepreneurship, Strategy, or International Business. The course load is three courses per semester. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D or D.B.A. in organizational behavior or a related field such as Management, Strategy, or Leadership (A.B.D.'s welcomed) as well as undergraduate teaching experience.

The successful candidate should be enthusiastic about teaching in a liberal-arts environment (with an emphasis on critical thinking, writing, speaking, and faculty-student interaction). This is an opportunity for candidates who would thrive in a collegial environment that supports research, encourages interdisciplinary efforts within and beyond the department, and provides mentorship for junior faculty. Our department values the contributions of a diverse and global faculty and believes that multiple perspectives offer our students the best tools for critical thinking.

Washington College is a top-tier, private, selective, independent liberal-arts college located in historic Chestertown on Maryland's Eastern Shore, within easy driving distance to Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia. Its location central to the Chesapeake Bay provides both academic and recreational opportunities. Business Management is viewed as a liberal art at Washington College; we characterize it as the active liberal art, emphasizing social responsibility and the digital transformation of business. Our mission is to transform students into leaders to create better worlds.
