  • Salary range: $75,000 to $90,000
  • Clearance requirement - Must be able to "Obtain a CBP Public Trust Clearance" - Current CBP clearance is preferred

DAWSON is looking for the next in Strategic Communications Specialist in Washington, D.C. The Strategic Communications Specialist for the Office of Facilities and Asset Management (OFAM) of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will develop communication products and support the development and implementation of communication strategies that further strategic communication vision and goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, research, write, and edit internal and external publications and guidelines to keep employees informed about current programs, priorities, and initiatives; communication products may include executive remarks, mass mailings, SharePoint maintenance, improvements, fact sheets, newsletters, Posters, reports, press releases, surveys, and presentations.
  • Partner with internal subject matter experts and CBP communications offices to identify, develop, and recommend effective techniques to communicate operational policies, procedures, and information tailored to unique external audiences.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of the OFAM Strategic Plan and associated activities to include enhanced engagement with stakeholder communities.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of the OFAM Strategic Plan and associated activities to include Implementation Plan development, monitoring and reporting.
  • Develop reference materials, guidance, repository of Strategy documentation.
  • Support the updating and implementation of the OFAM's Enterprise Service (ES) Strategy Activities.
  • Support logistics of strategy workshops, forums, meeting, interviews, and supporting content development.
  • Participates on behalf of OFAM in the ES Strategy Working Group
  • Facilitates discussions with ES and OFAM to accomplish OFAM ES Strategy Activities and its initiatives.
  • Creates, in partnership with subject matter experts to include senior leadership, OFAM ES Strategy Activities documents.
  • Briefs ES and OFAM leadership as needed on OFAM ES Strategy Activities implementation; Handle, draft, review, and package correspondence, communications, and messaging - including pre-decisional supervisor messaging, For Official Use Only (FOUO), personnel, and other sensitive content.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement a Communications Plan which provides a strategy and tactical approach for establishing, promoting, and maintaining communication and the collaborative efforts with its workforce, customers service delivery partners, and stakeholders. The Communications Plan shall provide standards for consistent, accurate and scheduled communications; provide awareness, update the workforce on and promote mission, vision, and cultural values; and establish capabilities for enhanced visibility of organizational services and accomplishments.
  • Develop a master schedule that defines deliverables and timelines for development and execution integrated with other key program schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Must be able to "Obtain a CBP Public Trust Clearance" - Current CBP clearance is preferred
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, to include Excel and PowerPoint Software Programs
  • Must complete and pass a background check prior to employment.
  • Must have basic understanding of Power BI
  • Familiarity and experience with Organizational Strategic Plans
  • 5 years similar experience working with DoD.
  • Capable of presenting concepts and approaches to senior level audiences
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator with strong technical capacity and ability to accurately complete all documentation.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain productivity both independently and collaboratively.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and effectively managing programs as a proficient problem solver and teamwork supporter.
  • Detail-oriented with great organizational and time management skills.
