Overview

R&P is looking for an experienced and motivated professional who wants to join our team. We are a small-sized defense contractor providing Engineering, Logistics, Program Management and Technical Services to government clients. We need a Senior Engineer ready to join a fast-paced and exciting work environment.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Program Manager and Technical Director, you will perform multi-faceted assignments requiring the analysis of complex systems and projects. Must be able to anticipate future requirements and assess and recommend the feasibility of proposed approaches to solve problems.

In this role, you will:

    Provide integrated engineering expertise across Navy surface ship modernization planning and execution to identify and resolve engineering issues through the participation in technical meetings including but not limited to Technical Working Groups and Readiness Review Boards.
  • Support the identification, tracking, and resolution of issues related to technical interfaces, technology insertion/design improvements, and other program initiatives.
  • Identify risks (cost/schedule/technical) and potential mitigation strategies to reduce likelihood/impact of risk events.
  • Participate in Risk Review Board meetings, providing technical assessments and recommendations.
  • Assist in developing and executing budgets, work breakdown structures and other management procedures as required to monitor and control projects.
  • Demonstrate the initiative to self-start, when required, with little to no direction or guidance.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An Active DoD Govt Issued Secret Clearance
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline plus 10 years directly relevant work experience
    • In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 15 years applicable work experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Skills in in data collection and data entry.
  • Proficiency in developing technical papers, briefings, and other products for communication to senior leaders.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Have Navy Surface Warfare background and DDG 51 class Chief Engineer, Combat Systems Officer or Aegis Systems Test Officer (STO)
  • Apply operational background and experience gained from military service and leadership roles to solve current and/or future mission needs or to correct problem areas.
  • Experience in Navy surface ship maintenance and modernization.
