Job Summary Senior Lead Calibration Technician is responsible for the on-time execution of calibration activities while adhering to GxP guidelines and defined SOPs. Senior Calibration Technician is proficient in the calibration of temperature, pressure, weight, speed, gas analyzing, conductivity, pH and electronic instruments and has experience in a pharmaceutical environment. A self-starter who works unsupervised and maintains high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the calibration and adjustment of equipment to specified tolerances using prescribed Standard Operating Procedures and manufacturer's manuals to maintain functionality and accuracy.

  • Must be proficient calibrating lab equipment to include RTDs, pressure gauges, conductivity and pH meters, environmental monitoring systems, incubators, refrigerators, freezers, centrifuges, etc.

  • Experience calibrating process equipment to include bioreactors, mixers, autoclaves, differential pressure transmitters, etc.

  • Must have experience calibrating utilities to include instruments on WFI skids, RO/DI skids, chill water, boilers, etc.

  • Responsible for managing the calibration of instrumentation within the five Novavax buildings using BMRAM.

  • Extensive experience using calibration standards, such as RTDs, Coriolis flow meters, standard solutions, process meters, and pneumatic and hydraulic pressure/vacuum calibrators.

  • Utilize and maintain secondary and working calibration standards. Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean an orderly state.

  • When applicable, perform repairs of instrumentation necessary for maintaining production equipment, laboratory equipment and utilities.

  • Must be able to specify and request purchase of parts or materials and communicate with manufacturers and vendors.

  • Interacts effectively with peers, internal customers, and management to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Accountable for calibration projects and will be leading, training and overseeing calibration contractors.

  • Maintain detailed records of calibration activities and ensure all documentation meets quality and GxP requirements.

  • Participate in on-the-job training.

  • Assist in qualification of equipment as needed.

  • Possess a positive attitude and the desire to continuously learn.

  • Identify and suggest initiatives for continuous improvement of process, quality, safety and efficiency.

  • Perform work safely and in compliance with EHS requirements

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience & Skills

  • 8+ years in the field of Metrology with 2+ years in a pharmaceutical GMP industry.

  • Certified Calibration Technician preferred.

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical equipment, facilities, standards and processes.

  • Adept at using critical thinking to solve technical problems.

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle several tasks simultaneously.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience with BMRAM preferred.
