Job Description

We are seeking a Weld Inspector to join our federal team based at York, PA location.A We're keeping the Navy cool. Literally. Our team at the York, PA custom designs, develops and manufactures complex chilled water HVAC and refrigeration equipment for Navy vessels around the world. This job consists of performing duties to identify, check, measure, inspect complete units, any fabricated or machined piece, component, parts of unit in various stages of sub-assembly.


Location:AYork, PA
Shift: 2nd shift (3:00 pm - 11:30 pm)
Pay: Starting rate of pay is $29.36
Union: This is a bargaining unit (union) position.

How you will do it

  • Working with isometric drawings, digital 3-D models, operational method sheets, welding symbols, and code specifications.
  • Work on floor, guarded platform, ladders or at welding table.
  • Check welds, fit up, gaps, alignment, offsets, welder certification, leaks, dirt, cracks, dryness, cleanliness, appearance
  • Perform corrosive coating, mass spectrometer, tube expansion tests as required
  • Monitor, check hydrostatic, strain, underwater, refrigerant tests, verify flame-out test.
  • Identify, prepare data plate, investigate problems, follow non-conforming material disposition procedures, make calculations, recommendations
  • Maintain inspection records.


What we look for

  • Qualify in, and perform the following non-destructive examination procedures:A magnetic particle (dry MT), PT and water wash PT, and ultrasonic tests.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Use related inspection tooling and gauges and test equipment, appropriate material handling equipment.
  • Be aware of, and have an understanding of the Health & Safety Policy.A You have the responsibility to incorporate the Health and Safety concepts when carrying out procedures and work tasks.A Initiate action to prevent non-compliance with legal or policy requirements.A Identify potential hazards and recommend solutions and verify their implementation.A Control activities until required changes are carried out.A Act in emergencies. Provide resources if in a position to do so.
  • Be aware of, and have an understanding of the Environmental Policy.A Follow work instructions and procedures to ensure compliance with the policy when they apply to your job responsibilities.
  • Know the significant impacts the campus has on the environment.A Know and follow emergency & evacuation procedures.
  • Ability to perform continuous physical work including moving heavy weight materials, handling chain falls, structural shapes, and work in strenuous positions.
  • U.S. citizen.



Preferred:

  • Technical or Vocational Welding Schooling, or equivalent welding experience.
  • Experience welding while adhering to code standards.
  • Rigging and overhead crane operation experience.
  • Knowledge of Military Code Requirements.
  • Experience welding exotic materials.
  • Ability to use Weld Gauges including Fillet Gauges and V-Wac Gauges.
