Job Description

RK&K is looking for motivated, detail-oriented Bridge Inspectors to join our Structures Team in Baltimore. No previous experience is necessary as all training will be provided upon hiring. Essential Functions:

  • Work with Bridge Inspection Team Leaders to perform bridge condition inspections in accordance with Federal requirements and client procedures
  • Record detailed notes of bridge condition and documenting with photographs
  • Observe and identify bridge component conditions and defects
  • Work outdoors, using ladders, bridge access equipment and other methods to gain close up views of bridge members
  • Prepare bridge inspection reports for submittal to the client in the format required by the client
  • Assist in the pre-inspection preparation efforts including gathering required equipment for the anticipated work, coordinating with inspection equipment vendors and ensuring proper traffic protection is scheduled

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Two years of previous bridge inspection and/or construction related experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Availability for local travel within Maryland, DC and Virginia during working hours
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM field
  • Engineering or Engineering Technology degree
  • Completion of 2-week training course "Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges", Course FHWA-NHI-130055
  • Previous bridge inspection experience
