Valiant is seeking an individual to design and manufacture metal components for a USG customer in the Northern Virginia area.
The support activities below are representative of the tasks the individual shall perform:
Operate metal working tools such as metal machining (manual and computer numeric control [CNC]), bending, cutting, welding, drilling, shaping equipment, etc. within the metal shop.
Properly handle the receipt and disposal of HAZMAT and HAZWASTE according to EPA regulations.
Attain and maintain Sponsor-specified certification (certification training provided by Sponsor which trainees must pass with a minimum score) with the safe handling, application, processing, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Responsible for setup, fixturing, jig utilization, programming, CAD/CAM, and operating and maintaining metal shop equipment:
Manual lathes
Bed and knee mills
CNC lathes
CNC mills
Wire EDM
CNC brake
Shear brake
Grinding tools
Surface grinder
Cold saw
Vertical and horizontal band saws
Waterjet cutting
Drill presses
Measuring equipment
Apply OSHA standards by performing safe metal shop practices and provide instruction to Sponsor staff on applicable OSHA standards.
Consult and aid others in the design and troubleshooting of mechanical component designs.
Manage and prioritize multiple tasking and adapt quickly to changing requirements.
Work as a team, utilizing strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Perform ad-hoc requirements associated with Sponsor/Mission Partner's equipment/supplies/products in order to report and maintain operational readiness status.
Continually research emerging manufacturing technologies for potential customer implementation.
