Valiant is seeking an individual to provide technical and organizational support for Plastics/Additive Manufacturing related to the design and manufacturing of polymer components for a USG customer in the Northern Virginia area. The support activities below are representative of the tasks the individual shall perform:

  • Independently operate and maintain additive manufacturing and plastics manufacturing tools and equipment to include, but not limited to, the following: Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Multi Jet Fusion (MJF), Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF), Stereolithography/Digital Light Processing (SLA/DLP), injection molding, autoclaves, mold making tools, and surface finishing and painting capabilities. Coordinate with commercial Vendors for tools and equipment maintenance, accordingly.
  • Injection Molding - Be the primary point of contact in independently operating and maintaining the IM process; operation, maintenance, training, project consultation, and have expertise in:
    • Material Handling - drying and storing
    • Mold Design - fabrication, heating/cooling theory
    • Part design, CAD/CAM, analysis, simulation, fabrication, heating/cooling theory
  • Handle the receipt and disposal of HAZMAT and HAZWASTE according to EPA regulations and Sponsor's requirements.
  • Develop and actively maintain an inventory stock management system with management of 1000+ shop supplies in a semi-automated fashion to ensure shop readiness.
  • Attain and maintain Sponsor-specified certification with the safe handling, application, processing, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of plastics and additive manufacturing shop equipment and practices such as 3D printing, injection molding, mold-making, surface finishing and painting.
  • Effectively consult and aid others in the design and troubleshooting of equipment and processes pertaining to 3D printing, injection molding, mold-making and surface finishing and painting.
  • Assist in the investigation and evaluation of future plastics and additive manufacturing capabilities, communicating with relevant commercial Vendors accordingly.
  • Ad-hoc requirements may be associated with Sponsor/Mission Partners equipment/supplies/products in order to report and maintain operational readiness status.

  • A TS/SCI with Polygraph is required.
  • CONUS and OCONUS TDY travel may be required.
