Description

HawkEye 360 is currently seeking a System Operations Engineer to join the System Operations team, which is a group of passionate engineers dedicated to maximizing the performance and quality of the end-to-end HE360 system through solving real time problems, system monitoring, and data analytics. The Engineer will work on critical operations tasks, including evaluating the performance of current and future production and R&D systems. The Engineer will prototype dashboards and reports in order to communicate system characterization and performance across the company by combining data from multiple data sources. The Engineer will be expected to understand the processes and procedures implemented by developers to translate and automate custom engineering processes into repeatable tools that can be used by non-experts. The Engineer will work with technical teams to automate the end-to-end order fulfillment process as the company scales.

HawkEye 360 is looking for a candidate with good problem-solving skills, who is creative and has a passion for working with and developing new innovative technology.

As the Systems Operations Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:
  • Work closely with System Operations team members to understand their day-to-day challenges, to brainstorm ideas to solve those challenges, and to create working prototype solutions that the team can use.
  • Automate and improve QA/QC, scheduling, and monitoring processes by developing scripts, building tools/dashboards, and implementing procedures.
  • Dive deep into the inner workings of our systems and data to understand limitations and opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Work closely with the engineering and space teams to define and implement additional quality control test cases, processes, and metrics
  • Utilize existing BI tools for generation and automation of satellite performance reporting to internal stakeholders
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential education and experience:
  • 3+ years professional systems engineering or software development experience.
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or another technical field with relevant work in programming, data analytics, or quality assurance.
  • Particularly strong work experience may be deemed equivalent for candidates with alternative degrees.
  • Practical development and/or scripting experience in Python.
  • Demonstrated effective automation of manual processes into stable operational tools.
  • Experience with navigating and querying PostgresSQL or similar databases.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience using code version control (ex. Git).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Desirable:
  • Working geospatial knowledge and experience with GIS applications (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.).
  • Experience with the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
  • Experience with BI Tools (Tableau, Grafana)
  • Experience with Python package development
  • Experience with AWS
  • Familiarity with satellite operations and/or RF geolocation
Salary Range: $95,000 - $135,000 annually

HawkEye 360 offers a compensation package that includes a competitive base salary plus annual performance bonus and benefits. We consider many factors when determining salary offers, such as candidate's work experience, education, training & skills, as well as market and business considerations. We are also open to considering candidates with experience and qualifications at a different level than required in a job posting, which may affect the compensation package offered.
