General Summary of Position
Provides oversight for MedStar's compute environments both on premise and in the Public Cloud. Designs, develops and implements infrastructure solutions using state-of-the-art technologies that address current gaps or provides continual improvement opportunities. Provides oversight and may serve as a technical project manager for complex activities including architecture, project planning, implementing, tracking, development, and reporting. Works with MedStar and vendor technical resources to identify and recommend emerging technologies as well as create and document architectural design and development standards, methodologies and best practices. Trains technical staff on the use of these practices. Creates and conducts internal training sessions on selected infrastructure development technologies and techniques. Reviews infrastructure designs for appropriateness, feasibility and adherence to standards. Confers with and advises colleagues on policies and procedures, technical problems and methods. Consults with and advises users of various information systems infrastructure. Supervises and mentors junior infrastructure staff. Collaborates with other architects from all IS disciplines, including Application Architects and Engineers, Data Architects and Engineers, etc., to determine best suited environment, on-premises or in the Public Cloud (especially Azure), for technical solutions. Works closely with all hospital system departments to understand solution requirements.
