Job DescriptionPosition Summary The Energy Supply Analyst is responsible for nominating, confirming, and scheduling supply on a combination of five different interstate pipelines that feed Washington Gas's system. The Energy Supply Analyst will be responsible for the execution of the natural gas supply plans and be able to provide pricing analytics to support purchasing decisions. The Supply Analyst should be able to meet daily deadlines, participate in an on-call rotation, and show initiative for process improvement. Tasks and Responsibilities * Purchases seasonal, monthly, and daily physical natural gas supply contracts to meet the needs of our customers. * Provides pricing analytics to support purchasing decisions. * Executes and manages nominations, confirmations, and imbalances on interstate pipelines. The company has four major interstate pipelines that interconnect with the system, which are Columbia, Transco, Eastern, and Cove Point. * Tracks company pipeline and storage nominations, deliveries from the Choice retail and third-party programs, and deliveries from the asset optimization program throughout the Gas Day cycles. * Investigates and manages pipeline cuts each cycle to ensure full deliveries of gas supply. * Makes recommendations on optimal use of transportation and storage assets * Become proficient in all interstate pipelines' Electronic Bulletin Boards (EBBs) for the timely execution of nominations * Primary communicator of pipeline restrictions, OFOs (operational flow orders), maintenance, or supply disruption events. * Maintains accurate records of daily pipeline capacity and storage utilization and accurately records the data in the Company's Gas Management system. * Contributes to accounting activities by weekly balancing the Gas Management System to match the pipeline * Monitor's storage service activities by activities reviewing the pipeline's reports to match the reports Energy Acquisition maintains * Serves as the pipeline expert on the pipelines(s) they schedule on, has a relationship with the pipeline reps, and has expertise on navigating the pipeline websites and extracting reports * Prepares reports and regulatory data requests as needed. * Participates in meetings and attends proceedings in support of the business unit's planning and regulatory issues * Collaborates with Gas Control to manage the demand and supply balance. * Procures and schedules propane and hexane supplies. * Engages in emerging sourcing initiatives including work with Certified Gas, RNG, and hydrogen. * Keeps clean records for the purpose of auditing and efficient accounting close * On a rotational basis, remain on call on assigned weekends and holidays to provide scheduling and balancing services * Provide ad-hoc reporting where needed Qualifications, Skills and Abilities * Bachelor's Degree Energy, Business, Finance, or related field. preferred * 3+ Years required * Hard-working, self-motivated individual that has the ability to problem solve, critically think, and propose process improvement. * Demonstrated working knowledge of gas trading process and/or interstate gas pipeline systems preferred * Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office, for data management, analysis and reporting purposes * Ability to coordinate and complete multiple tasks with changing requirements while meeting commitments. * Comfortable with presenting complex data to a general audience * Proven ability to work at a fast pace to perform a wide variety of functions Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments * Experience with data analysis, reporting, forecasting and accounting
