Sentara Health Plans is currently hiring a Health and Prevention RN/Flexi/PRN for Northern Virginia!

Status: Flexi / PRN position with day shift hours. Position has a minimum of 4 hours per week with the opportunity to work additional hours. Busy season is the Fall- September, October and November up to 20 hours per week.

This position requires participation with in person health screenings and vaccine clinics in the Northern Virginia area and occasional travel outside of the assigned area (RVA, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, Harrisonburg)

Location: Should reside in Northern Virginia or within the immediate surrounding areas.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for both individual and group education to promote core health improvement programs including smoking cessation, adult immunizations, heart health, cancer prevention and detection, and wise self-care

  • Current knowledge of regional preventive health issues, managed care health improvement initiatives, and a variety of health improvement strategies is required

Required Qualifications:

  • RN License (Virginia)

  • BLS Certification

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in Nursing or Non Degree RN Diploma

  • Minimum 3 years experience working as a Registered Nurse

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Community Nursing

  • Experience in Health Prevention/ Health Education

  • Experience working with Diabetes, Cardiac Risk patients or chronic illnesses
