JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Senior Application Engineer with first-hand experience designing, commissioning, and operating industrial wastewater filtration equipment (e.g., UF, NF, RO). In this role you will manage budget and firm bid proposals costing and preparation and process engineering for our suite of filtration solutions, assist Customers, Project Engineers and Project Managers with process-related questions during all phases of a project, and take a leading role in onsite commissioning for new projects. Knowledge of AutoCAD/SolidWorks is required to help with preparation and review of basic engineering drawings. Knowledge of packaged process equipment utilizing pumps, valves, instrumentation, and controls, with the ability to properly select and size these components in a treatment system is a plus.

While qualifications are important, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high degree of practical engineering judgement and display excellent interpersonal and hands-on skills as part of the interview process. The company is looking for an individual with a 'maker' mindset who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty while having an excellent attention to details.

Responsibilities

  1. Final design authority of filtration systems; Review & approve designs by others.
  2. Responsibility for final commissioning & startup authority.
  3. Responsible for technical training, vendor & subcomponent standardization.
  4. Working with sales staff, project managers, and clients to identify project requirements, discuss site-specific issues, and finalize specifications for sales proposals/contracts.
  5. Assist the engineering team to generate P&IDs, PFDs, and Bill of Materials for equipment to be fabricated.
  6. Perform hands-on troubleshooting of basic electrical and mechanical issues with pumps, motors, sensors, valves, etc.
  7. Assist in guiding and directing onsite employees and contractors during project installation and commissioning
  8. Help train client staff during commissioning
  9. Follow up with the client after commissioning to monitor system performance and recommend any changes, if needed.
  10. Responsible for onsite and offsite bench scale and pilot testing of systems including laboratory sampling and analysis and preparing testing protocols and reports.
  11. Other duties, as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree and formal training in Civil/Environmental, Chemical or Process Engineering, required.
  2. 5+ years actual applications/process engineering experience in Municipal and/or Industrial Wastewater treatment, Chemicals, Power or other heavy process industry
  3. Must be fluent in P&IDs, system design, functional specs/control narration, HAZOP/SIL, etc
  4. Experience designing, installing, and troubleshooting filtration systems (ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, etc.)
  5. Experience in wastewater filtration processes & equipment required.
  6. Ability to read and mark-up P&IDs.
  7. Experience commissioning systems, training operators, and working with customers
  8. Ability to effectively communicate with a project team.
  9. Independent, self-starter who can work with minimal supervision in a safe manner.
  10. Excellent time manager who can schedule work such that deadlines are met.
  11. Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  12. A professional demeanor: an individual who will represent the company in an acceptable manner.
  13. Willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Education:

  1. Bachelor's (Required)

Experience:

  1. Wastewater/Water Process engineering: Minimum 5 years (Required)

Willingness to travel:

  1. 25% (Required)

Salary: From $110,000.00 per year
