Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a full time Staff Landscape Architect to join our Land Planning & Landscape Architecture Department to work on a variety of projects for clients within the commercial, residential, mixed-use private development sector. This opportunity is open in any of our Maryland offices (Lanham, Baltimore, Rockville, and Frederick) with the expectation of some travel to the other Dewberry offices.

Responsibilities
    Prepares conceptual and schematic design plans and graphics for presentation
  • Prepare layout studies, yield studies, and parking studies for various land development projects
  • Prepare development plans to support Rezoning and/or Special Exception applications.
  • Works on design teams in all aspects of a given project to develop detailed design documents for Concept, Schematic, Details, and Construction drawing plans.
  • Also includes conducting code research, writing specifications, and coordinate/expediting agency permitting.
  • Schematic and detailed grading design, utility design, environmental design, planting, lighting, and irrigation plans.
  • Prepare Landscape and Hardscape Plans from concept development through construction documents.
  • Prepares environmental, tree conservation, and mitigation plans for agency approval.
  • Coordination and communication with various team members including engineering, surveying, geotechnical, architecture, structural, environmental engineers, designers, and consultants.
  • Utilizes intermediate drafting and design skills to compete various tasks within a team atmosphere

Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or Urban Planning by an accredited 3rd party (LAAB), required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in landscape architecture and/or planning, required.
  • Strong freehand illustration and rendering skills.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator,) Sketchup, ArcGIS/ArcView
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2019 and Microsoft office (word, excel, outlook, Power Point) is required.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multifaceted team environment.
  • Portfolio, work samples, university/college transcripts will be required if considered for an interview (writing sample, portfolio, grading example)
  • Strong motivation and interest to obtaining licensure or certification
