Position Overview

The Senior Cost Accountant, Plant Operations assists the Plant Controller in multiple areas of accounting, including variance analysis, sales analysis, standard cost development, inventory control, PPV analysis, and scrap analysis. Prepare daily, monthly, and quarterly reports as needed as well as participate in month end close.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations to ensure current and accurate balances with support
  • Monitors/Reconciles inventory cycle count program and develop program for remaining materials
  • Analyzes PPV/freight for proper accounting
  • Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reports on sales, production, and labor hours
  • Assist with data collection to support budgets and forecasts
  • Prepares journal entries to support month-end close
  • Prepares month-end corporate reports (inventory, variances, sales/cost of sales activity, etc)
  • Works with plant personnel to ensure proper accounting codes are used on purchase orders
  • Performs audit on annual standard cost revision, tests new standard costs for accuracy
  • Assist with annual physical inventory
  • Assist with part number creation and calculating standard costs
  • Assist with actual to standard variance analysis
  • Capital project cost tracking and monitoring.
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis
  • Improve current SAP reports and develop new as needed
  • Work with SAP team to improve the allocation of costs in transactions
  • SOX Controls and Compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree - Accounting with six years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Detailed knowledge of cost accounting and understanding of transaction flow into trial balance
  • Good communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP software
  • SAP experience preferred
