Job Description
Summary:
Responsible for individual contribution to Engineering Test planning and preparation for assigned releases including full engineering Release Test Plans as well as Regression and Load Test Plans.  For some releases, may have overall test planning responsibility.  Testing and analysis is complex in nature.
 
Qualification Requirements:
 
Education:   
  • A Bachelor's degree in an engineering area or equivalent. 
Experience:  
  • 5+ years of test engineering or related area.
 
Skills:
  • Good knowledge of test methodology including statistical coverage methodologies.
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering test processes and procedures using Atlassian Jira and HP Quality Center in an Agile development environment.
  • Strong networking skills are required with knowledge of Cisco, Windows, Linux, and 3COM equipment.
  • Strong fundamentals of Computers, Software Engineering, Operating Systems and Networking.
  • Understanding of LAN and WAN networking and topologies.
  • Strong Testing Fundamentals with experience in manual and some automation testing
  • Experience with testing tools such as IXIA and Spirent a plus.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and be a team player.
  • Excellent organizational, decision making and communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented individual is essential.
  • Strong understanding of security using encryption and authentication
  • Understanding of network security protocols and algorithms (e.g. IPsec, SSL, encryption, etc.)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Builds engineering test cases based on release content and Marketing Requirements.  Test cases defined should functionally verify release content as well as cover previously existing functionality in a system environment. 
  • Executes engineering test cases or baseline/integration test cases and ensure results are recorded.
  • Identifies and documents defects consistently and clearly using Jira such that defects can be reproduced by the development team.
  • Works with development as required to help reproduce issues and to ensure defects are understood and valid.
  • During QA cycles, performs sanity tests of engineering builds to minimize risk of unexpected quality drop.
  • Evaluates software designs for compliance with requirements.
  • Estimates duration of engineering acceptance testing based on test plan.
  • Provides documentation as appropriate including inputs for end-user documentation.
  • Independently manages time and prioritizes tasks to achieve results within cost and schedule constraints
  • Provides work assistance to lower level test engineers as needed
  • Travel to customer sites and manufacturing sites as required.
  • Special projects and duties as assigned
