We are currently recruiting for a Non-Destructive Testing Technician (NDT) to join the STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES team as a Forensic Investigator. This position covers the entire United States and the successful candidate can be located anywhere in the United States within range of a major airport.  As a Forensic Investigator you will be investigating existing structures and construction materials to assess their condition and understand causes of defects and deterioration.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting investigations safely

  • Pre-planning of investigations and coordination with the branch personnel

  • Performing field investigations at various sites across the United States

  • Coordinating post-investigation activities, such as 3rd party laboratory testing and condition survey drawings

  • Assembling data into reports and communicating results in writing and verbally

  • Presenting Technical Data and Investigative findings to internal and external groups.

  • Participating in Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) efforts on assigned construction repair projects and assists in developing relevant inspection program documentation

     

Position Requirements

  • 4-year degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related degree

  • Proficient with MS Office

  • Able to effectively take technical data and develop into clear and concise written reports

  • Able to work safely at heights (up to 650’ high), at elevated temperatures, and able to wear a full-face respirator

  • Eligible to obtain a TWIC and obtain site access badges for various industrial and power generating facilities

  • Overnight travel up to 70% of the time

     

Preferred Skills and Certifications

  • ACI Level 1 Technician Certification for concrete field testing

  • ASNT NDT Level I or greater

  • NACE CIP Level I or greater

  • Experience with CADD software, such as AutoCAD and Revit

  • Previous experience in investigating defects and degradation of concrete and steel structures

  • Eager to work “hands-on” and outside the office with civil infrastructure
