Fox News is looking for a Freelance Video/Lighting Technician to join our Washington D.C. Bureau. As the Freelance Video/Lighting Technician, you will work with all members of the editorial and technical teams to ensure video levels and lighting are the best possible quality on air and create and maintain lighting effects and cues. The Freelance Video/ Lighting Technician will work directly with Studio Operations Supervisors, Lead Stage Technicians, Directors, Producers, and other studio crew. You are creative and have an interest in the news and entertainment industry.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Chip, color correct, and monitor video levels on all studio cameras, video monitors, and remote cameras
Work with directors, lighting, and make-up to troubleshoot and make adjustments to ensure the best possible on-air look for our talent and set
Frame and monitor all remote Fox wire cameras as needed
Patch cameras to different in-house areas as needed and build, change, and update scene files to show as needed
Assist Studio Techs
Stagehand, rigging, light board operation and programming, special effects
Ladder work
Set maintenance and repair
Prop and storage coordination, organization, and maintenance
Prep, hang, and maintain support and storage facilities
Operate specialty equipment (bucket & scissor lifts)
Understand and implement backup protocol when necessary
Assess, advise and assist with proper stage, scenic, and lighting set-ups
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
3+ years' experience working in video in live news or tape environment
1-3 years of lighting/stagehand experience
Experience with Ikegami HD Cameras, and Color correction units
2+ years' experience with Vinton robotic camera operations
Flexibility with your schedule, and the ability to stay late often with little notice if news warrants
Understanding of ETC lighting consoles (programming, patching)
Willingness to work overtime and additional shifts to meet the demands of breaking news, programming, and production, specialty scenic or light calls, and/or shift coverage
Knowledge of digital test equipment for troubleshooting and repairs
Knowledge of electrical systems, lighting effects, and electronics
Familiarity with trade and power tools
Carpentry skills
Understanding of the importance of health and safety procedures
Flexibility working under the pressures of live programming and time constraints
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work with heavy grip gear for extended periods of time
