    Overview

    The Software Engineer Intern will be involved in the development and testing of a new generation of advanced controllers that will provide advanced features and connectivity for power generation control systems. The Software Engineer Intern will be involved in software design, development and testing a web based user interface using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Node and Angular.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assists the engineering team in completing their tasks to design and implement a robust software system.
    • Assists in testing software and maintaining various utilities and tools that are used by the team in support of their engineering tasks.
    • Researches tools and techniques that may benefit the program, installs and configures the tools and demonstrates their usage, and advantages and shortcomings to assist the team in making decisions about which tools to acquire and use.
    • Develops and maintains documentation in support of the team.
    • Designs and develops software solutions in support of the development team.
    • Development of web applications using javaScript, HTML, CSS, Node and Angular
    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree program in Electrical Engineering

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Linux development experience;
    • Experience working on industrial control applications;
    • Serial and network communications experience;
    • Experience with Agile software development practices and tools.
    • Experience developing Javascript web applications that adapt to the form factor of the display device;
    • Web user interface design and implementation

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
