Description

Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Analyst has primary responsibility to administer and reconcile the College's general ledger accounts.

The Accounting Analyst position is a FLSA exempt, salaried position with a regular Monday- Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. work schedule, 35 hours/week minimum work hours expected.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

85% General ledger account reconciliations and related expectations.

  • Reconcile general ledger to the bank statement daily.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Monitor, prepare, and submit monthly sales tax reports.
  • Reviews and posts daily Advancement transactions; reconciles stock gifts.
  • Maintain a schedule for pre-paid and accrued expenses.
  • Maintain fixed asset setup and depreciation schedule.
  • Enter and review fixed assets ready to be capitalized.
  • Perform month-end close of fixed asset roll forward schedule and month-end close of fixed asset module.
  • Review of CIP and preparation of support documentation of capital assets basis for capitalization process.
  • Reconcile balances in fixed asset subledger to the general ledger.
  • Assist with AP VREGs verification. Review vendor account statements and conduct appropriate follow-up as needed.
  • Perform periodic petty cash count.
  • Responsible for issuance, payments, fraud, and limits on corporate credit cards.
  • Prepare reports and/or perform data collection for external audits as required.
  • Function as liaison for the Business Office and student clubs.
  • Review and update cash logs.

15% Perform other duties as assigned.

  • As a valued member of the College, performing "service" includes serving or being appointed, elected, or delegated to an ad-hoc committee, project, or assignment.
  • Attend assigned trainings and/or seminars to stay abreast current trends and updates in accounting and/or related. Occasional travel will be required.
  • Perform other related duties or tasks, as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or closely related is required for appointment.
  • Minimum three-five (3-5) years of experience required in accounting capacity; non- profit or college/university accounting is preferred.
  • Experience with integrated management information systems.
  • Experience with all Microsoft office products.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with accounting principles and practices, and preferably within a college setting.
  • Good organizational skills to multi-task and discern required duties and expectations to meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter, high energy level.

This role is required to perform a myriad of tasks with limited supervision, work effectively both independently, as well as with others in a team or group setting, and may interact with other departments and/or diverse faculty, staff, and students across campus. The individual will need to be well- organized; meticulous attention to detail; able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines without sacrificing accuracy and have well-developed interpersonal skills, be positive, tactful, mature, and flexible. Higher education experience and especially in a business office environment is desired and valuable. Work is required to be performed in accordance to governing federal and state regulations, in addition to normal accounting and budgetary standards.
