Medical Material Manager/Planner

About the Position:

The Medical Material Manager/Planner is responsible for the logistical oversight and management of the Air National Guard (ANG) Influenza vaccination program, Shelf-Life Extension Program (SLEP) and acts as focal point between the Surgeon General and ANG Medical Groups for these programs. This position is responsible for the logistical oversight and inventory management for ANG MDG influenza requisition, distribution, and final disposition. The Medical Material Manager/Planner is also responsible for 27 Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Response Enterprise to ensure precise SLEP/DMLSS statistics and effectively communicate all SLEP related updates to affected units, AFMED, and NGB/SGX. The ANG SLEP Manager conducts monthly reviews of SLEP and DMLSS inventory records to ensure accuracy and program compliance. The position is designed for a Medical Materiel professional with a skillset critical to performing program management and oversight, effective communication at all levels, integrated collaboration, and strategic readiness reporting.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Communicates with Guard Medical Unit (GMU) Point of Contacts (POC) on verification on influenza procurements.
  • Updates Air National Guard leadership with all influenza procurements and shipment status.
  • Maintains and updates influenza databases.
  • Tracks and verifies accuracy of influenza shipments to all GMUs.
  • Cross references, compares and validates data in DMLSS and Joint Medical Asset Repository (JMAR).
  • Identifies and documents discrepancies into SLEP tracking database.
  • Communicates with Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Response Element (CRE) Regional Logisticians and Air National Guard Leadership with status of SLEP data.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time as necessary.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge and experience using Microsoft products.
  • Demonstrated strong Program Management experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience using Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) and JMAR.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills that result in clear, concise, and positive communications.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and provide trend analysis.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have an accredited bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience in DoD medical materiel processes.
  • OR 15 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Desired experience includes program management, Medical War Reserve Materiel Operations, Influenza distribution, Quality Assurance management, and expertise in the management and control of funds and resources using complex reporting mechanisms.
