Boston Government Services is seeking a Commercialization Specialist to support Department of Energy's (DOE) Industrial Efficiency & Decarbonization Office (IEDO) in Washington, DC.

About the Program Office:

The Department of Energy's (DOE) Industrial Efficiency & Decarbonization Office (IEDO) accelerates the innovation and adoption of cost-effective technologies that eliminate industrial greenhouse gas emissions. IEDO fosters the research, development, demonstration, and deployment of these technologies to achieve energy security, economic growth, and environmental benefits for the nation.

About the Role:

This position serves as the Commercialization Specialist in IEDO. The Commercialization Specialist will play a key role in supporting IEDO's mission by facilitating the transition of promising clean energy technologies from the lab to the marketplace. You will identify and analyze market opportunities, develop strategies to bridge the gap between technology development and commercialization, and work with stakeholders to de-risk and accelerate the adoption of these technologies by industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify promising clean energy technologies developed through IEDO programs with high commercialization potential.
  • Lead/support market analysis for current key sectors/technologies (e.g., flat glass, heat pumps) and map out markets (size, geography, trends, projects).
  • Develop and implement commercialization strategies for identified technologies, including market positioning, go-to-market plans, and partnership development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders, including potential technology adopters, investors, and technology developers.
  • Assist IEDO project teams in developing funding proposals that emphasize the commercial viability of their technologies and advise on the development of technoeconomic metrics and goals for proposals.
  • Track and analyze the progress of IEDO-funded technologies towards commercialization.
  • Manage and contribute to the development of IEDO's commercialization resources and tools.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and federal and state policies impacting industrial energy efficiency and decarbonization.
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in business administration, Engineering, Science, or a related field (or bachelor's degree with relevant experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technology commercialization, market analysis, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the clean energy sector and industrial energy efficiency and decarbonization technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Successful drug screening.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Located in the Washington DC area with a hybrid work arrangement.
  • 10+ years of experience in technology commercialization of clean energy and/or industrial decarbonization technologies.
  • Experience with project management.
