The Clinical Education Specialist will practice as an expert in the application of the nursing process and theory within Behavioral Health. The primary responsibility of the Clinical Education Specialist is to advance patient care directly in the role of expert clinical practitioner and indirectly in the roles of educator, consultant, researcher, change agent, collaborator, clinical leader, role model, and patient advocate. Adjusts schedule as needed in order to provide supervision and guidance to new staff on off-shifts. Participates on multidisciplinary committees to complete projects/procedures that affect direct patient care. Participates in implementing strategic hospital and department initiatives.

About this position:

What you will bring:

  1. Master's degree preferred. Qualified applicants can be placed in the position if they agree to complete a MSN; must apply to and be accepted into a MSN program within six months, with course work to begin promptly after acceptance. Steady progress toward degree completion is defined as a minimum of 9 credits per calendar year from the time course work begins.
  2. BSN is required.
  3. At least three years of Registered Nurse experience in Behavioral Health/Psych.
  4. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of Maryland.
  5. Certification in clinical area of specialty preferred; if not current, will seek certification within two (2) years of hire.
  6. Experience in nursing/staff education preferred.
