Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a Director of Information Governance to join their IT department. Reporting to the IT Leadership, working with General Council, Human Resources and other leadership, and stakeholders to expand and lead the Information Governance Program, plus oversee, manage, and enhance our existing records management program, and as directed undertake business processes analysis and implement business processes enhancements in a project manager role.

Responsibilities
    Collaborate with key business leadership to support and improve Information Governance strategies, policies, roles, responsibilities, and framework, balancing centralized policies with distributed accountability and execution to enable effective governance across Dewberry.
  • Lead the Information Governance steering committee and key business/functional stakeholders, to identify key priorities and implement change management initiatives.
  • Document requirements to operationalize governance support of Dewberry business, functions and regions including requirements for functional stakeholders (e.g. privacy, security, risk management, records and information management, eDiscovery, compliance, and internal audit).
  • Work to embed Information Governance principles into project guidance, toolkits, and systems lifecycle to achieve governance by design.
  • Drive leadership alignment supporting awareness of Information Governance value through user awareness and training.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for Information governance solutions.
  • Prepare project development and reports for executive meetings.
  • Responsible for records management systems, processes, operations, and maintenance
  • Execute litigation holds at direction of General Counsel.
  • Work with CIO, FSO and others to support technical security protocol.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Law, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in information governance, data management, or cybersecurity are highly advantageous.
  • Extensive experience in information governance, data protection, and compliance roles, preferably within the architecture, engineering, or construction industries, or in other sectors dealing with federal contracts. Experience should include hands-on management of complex data systems, compliance audits, and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of Information Governance components and requirements to include information privacy, security, electronic discovery, and records information lifecycle management.
  • Ability to develop and implement information governance strategies that align with the organization's objectives and comply with federal requirements. Must be adept at problem-solving and crisis management in complex scenarios.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to direct and develop teams, coupled with excellent communication skills to interact with various stakeholders including IT staff, executive management, external regulators, and federal clients.
  • Experience in managing projects, including planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects related to information governance or data management.
  • Ability to manage and organize large volumes of information to ensure accuracy and compliance in all governance activities.
  • Proficiency in modern IT and data management technologies, including Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems, data classification tools, and cybersecurity measures. Familiarity with the architecture and engineering industry's specific software and data systems is a plus.
  • Combination of education and experience commensurate with responsibilities, knowledge and skills required.
  • Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or Certified Records Manager (CRM) are highly desirable as they demonstrate a commitment to the field and a thorough understanding of best practices.
