Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

As the Business Development Lead for the Aireon Commercial Data Services team, you will be leading the identification of key customer and use cases, and ensuring our products exceed their expectations. Aireon Commercial Data Service enables customers to access the first and only global aircraft surveillance source through low-cost and high-fidelity products and services. We are looking for a passionate and innovative Business Development lead to join our team and help our customers in the aviation and aerospace industries harness the power of data-driven decision-making.

What You'll Do

    Identify business opportunities across the aviation and aerospace industries to drive new market penetration
  • Prospect new customers and business verticals to understand their use case and derive requirements
  • Partner with Product Management, Sales, and Marketing to align go-to market and sales campaigns with our partners and customers
  • Manage the CDS pipeline and support the sales team with achieving our customer's objectives
  • Build a consensus for the product vision both internally and with key external stakeholders and working groups
  • Engage with customer forums and conferences

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience with Business Development in the Aviation Industry
  • Proven experience developing deep and trusted relationships with customers
  • Understanding of the Commercial Aviation market
  • Ability to travel 35% of the time
  • Proven track record of successfully executing sales campaigns

Desired Qualifications

  • Deep Knowledge of Aviation surveillance data sources and use cases
  • Experience working with aviation solution providers
  • Experience and demonstrated success in developing business for data provisioning and added-value business models
  • Understanding of procurement processes for the Aviation Market
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM tools

1-3-6-12 Month Plan

In the first month, we'll expect you to...

  • Get onboarded and train with your manager
  • Get acclimated into the role
  • Understand the tools and different stakeholders
  • Develop a multi-stage plan to establish relationships within the various aviation markets

At 3 months we'll expect you to...

  • Develop material to brief at internal product prioritization efforts
  • Define key strengths and weaknesses of our solution and the value within specific markets
  • Establish initial partnerships and relationships within the specific markets

At 6 months we'll expect you to...

  • Define first-year roadmap and engagement playbook
  • Establish relationships with stakeholders and key customers
  • Hold regular internal meetings with product management to transfer customer requirements and usecases

About the Team

  • Aireon's Sales team is a small but agile team within our Sales and Customer Affairs team

  • We conduct regular team meetings both virtual and in person

  • Team is geographically diverse with centralized team in Mclean, VA
