Job Description
Salary Range: $60,000.00 To $88,165 Annually
USAC's target compensation range for a new hire into this position is $60,000 - $88,165 USD per year. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors based on knowledge, skills, and experience, as evaluated throughout the interview process. In addition, this position may be eligible for an annual performance bonus. Working in a creative and fast-paced environment, the Staff Accountant supports the Universal Service Fund (USF) accounting function at USAC by preparing periodic financial statements, analyzing accounts, and providing management with financial research.

Responsibilities

  • Applying principles of accounting (GAAP) to everyday activities.
  • Preparing weekly, monthly, and yearly reconciliations and reports
  • Assisting Manager and Senior Accountants with analysis of transactions
  • Performing monthly General Ledger to sub-ledger reconciliation, researching and correcting identified issues
  • Preparing reports on financial results for use by Management and other users
  • Recording data using Microsoft Excel through data linking and use of pivot tables
  • Assisting Manager and Senior Accountants with daily, monthly, and yearly workflow and special projects
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports for external and internal use
  • Communicating issues and procedures to colleagues and external parties in an effective manner
  • Liaising with IT team to help develop and test basic updates to accounting systems
  • Working with program managers to identify and correct anomalies in specific accounts
  • Other projects as assigned

About You

The successful candidate will excel at operating in a diverse and fluid environment and will be crucial for the success of the Finance division.

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or relevant technical training and certifications.
  • Training or Formal Education Fields in Accounting, Finance and/or Business.
  • Three (3) to Four (4) years of directly related experience.
  • Proficiency in GAAP
  • Experience with the following: GL Accounting systems, Accounts Payable and Receivable and Fixed Assets.
  • Experience preparing and/or reconciling the accounting records of a financial reporting entity.
  • Ability to handle a large variety of details and work with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with a sense of urgency to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to translate complex analytical findings into comprehensive insights for business stakeholder.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Other Desired Experience: Telecommunications Industry; Regulatory
