Position Description

We are looking for a part-time environmental sustainability intern to join our EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) team for 6 months. This is a 20-hour per week hybrid position that will involve working onsite at our Germantown, MD office. Your manager will work with you to establish a consistent working schedule.

Our global EHS team works to improve environmental performance and provide a safe work environment. As an environmental sustainability intern, you will work under the supervision of the EHS team to support our environmental data collection process, CO2 emission and waste reduction projects, ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) reporting, supplier assessment, and ISO 14001 certification. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of a wide range of projects, depending on experience.

You will support the following key topics:

- Collecting, validating, and analyzing environmental metrics (energy, water, waste) for all QIAGEN global sites

- Developing employee training on environmental topics

- Implementation of EHS management system (ISO 14001)

- Assessing suppliers for EHS requirements

- Developing and executing ESG rating improvement strategy for environmental topics

Position Requirements

- Currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) an accredited Bachelor degree program in EHS management, sustainability, environmental science, data management and analytics, or other related field.

Personal Requirements

- Proficient in Microsoft office

- Organized and detail-oriented

- Ability to work well in a team, positive attitude, good communication skills
