About the Job:

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Commercial Real Estate Credit Analyst. The successful candidate obtains and analyzes information, primarily financial, for the purposes of assisting in the underwriting of commercial loan requests. Prepares both business and individual financial spreads. Also, performs a variety of administrative tasks in support of the credit and loan administration functions. Begins the process of working with PMs to understand /develop portfolio mgmt. and underwriting best practices /procedures.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Prepares business and individual financial spreads for both new and existing client relationships, utilizing a software program, in accordance with established guidelines, policies and procedures - with a high degree of accuracy and in accordance with department turnaround time.

  • Obtains and analyzes a variety of reports utilized in the commercial loan underwriting process, including CoStar and Zonda reports, LexisNexis reports and personal credit bureau reports. Assist with industry and market studies, as needed.

  • Processes client financial statements received from the CRE group (RMs, PMs & PAs); uploads into respective clients V-Drive folder and nCino (DocMan). Then, updates Covenant Compliance Records and any appropriate tracking spreadsheets. Works with RMs & PMs to ensure all outstanding covenants (reporting & financial) for all loan approvals have been added to nCino and that ticklers are current. Assists with monitoring the Financial Statement Tickler Report and may be asked to contact borrowers to request financial information. Performs financial covenant compliance testing as outlined in SSB Covenant Compliance Procedures.

  • Adverse Action Oversight (CRE Team Point-Person): Maintains and monitors team compliance with nCino Adverse Action Procedures /Guidelines and Reg B timing requirements. Reviews Application Monitoring Reports regularly to keep an eye on timing and ensure aging /stale reports are addressed /cleared timely. Works closely with both RMs & PMs to confirm the accuracy of the respective record Total Revenue amount, or to add the Total Revenue Amount if blank.

  • Project Tracker Oversight (CRE Team Point-Person): Creates, maintains, and monitors all active projects providing weekly updates on the status - including details on progress.

  • Maintains and prepares administrative reports including, but not limited to, CRE Credit Analyst Pipeline reports and SCO Quarterly Portfolio Review Memos for Executive Mgmt.

  • Assists with on-going project initiatives including annual stress testing; DSCR covenant testing; hotel portfolio mgmt.; and V-Drive file maintenance /clean-up, etc. For regulatory and loan review exams - assist to gather /request information and populate file folders.

Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Two to four years of college work in accounting, business administration and/or finance, with a bachelor's degree recommended.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a credit analyst or one to two years of comparable work experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Position requires the collection, interpretation, and analysis of data from diverse sources.
  • Ability to utilize standard PC-based software to prepare correspondence, reports and other documents as needed. Intermediate to advanced experience with FIS, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills and the ability to consistently work under time constraints.

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.

Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.

Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.
