JOB SUMMARY: The Southern Maryland Community Outreach Manager reports to the Chief Development Officer and will be responsible for building and managing relationships at all levels. The manager will partner with Southern Maryland volunteer leadership, donors, partners and staff to raise awareness and resources (both financial and volunteer) to support and grow Catholic Charities' programs in Charles, Calvert and St. Mary's counties. The manager will make connections with community leaders, corporations, foundations, partner agencies, parishes, schools, and individual donors and be a presence at relevant community and business events. The manager will educate the Southern Maryland community on Catholic Charities' programs and mission, inspire and motivate volunteers, raising the profile and support for Catholic Charites in the region.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Volunteer Leadership and Community Development.
    1. Recruit, manage and provide leadership for the Southern Maryland Volunteer Task Force to include hosting quarterly meetings, preparing materials, follow up and engagement to grow the presence of Catholic Charities and achieve fundraising and volunteer goals.
    2. Represent Catholic Charities by attending meetings, educating the community, making presentations, and making connections to support program efforts.
    3. Perform liaison activities with community partners, including the United Way, local government agencies, community groups, Catholic parishes and other religious groups, and program committees.
    4. Network to develop prospects for Catholic Charities, including corporate, philanthropic, school, parish and volunteers.
    5. Stay educated on Southern Maryland programs, trends and topics important to Catholic Charities and the needs of the Southern Maryland community.
  • Partner with Southern Maryland programs to achieve fundraising and volunteer recruitment goals.
    1. In close partnership with Southern Maryland programs, develop, manage and support the implementation of fundraising strategies and activity. Provide consistent reporting on progress towards goals.
    2. Work closely with the Development team to develop necessary outreach, solicitation, and stewardship materials.
    3. Work with the Development team on identification and stewardship of corporate, individual, mid-level and major gift prospects. Partner in making solicitations where appropriate.
    4. Partner with programs on special events, maximizing fundraising opportunities and creating awareness.
    5. Ensure that all donors are acknowledged, stewarded, receive outstanding customer service and understand the impact of their giving.
    6. Work in partnership with the Grants Team to facilitate the submission of contracts and/or grant applications as needed.
    7. Encourage community groups and leaders to autonomously conduct community-based events benefiting Catholic Charities' Southern Maryland programs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience fundraising, networking and building relationships with community leaders and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated success in community building and engagement efforts.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

  • Proven ability to build and manage relationships with donors and volunteers at all levels. Demonstrated ability to network.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to inspire, motivate and lead donors and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of the Southern Maryland market a plus. Knowledge of fundraising database software a plus.
