We, at ICMA, take the concept of local governments further into the future. Our work increases the capacity of local governments globally. We assist communities to deliver innovative services, empower resident engagement, enable economic development, strengthen leadership, ethics, and provide forward-thinking management.
ICMA provides research, content, training, technical assistance, and peer learning opportunities for more than 13,000 core members and the hundreds of thousands of other local government leaders, managers, staff, and stakeholders working to build better communities around the world. Over the years, we have worked with federal agencies, foundations and philanthropic organizations, and international donors on numerous projects that are focused on activities at the intersection of effective local government management and community improvement.
What we are looking for:
ICMA seeks governance experts in the following areas:
Please clearly indicate your regional experience (Africa, Asia, Europe and Eurasia, Latin America and/or the Middle East) in these sectors.
Experts will be brought on as short-term technical advisors with the possibility of longer-term engagements, should opportunities become available.
What you'll do:
Candidates will support our business development team in responding to donor procurements and positioning ICMA with funder agencies. This can include conducting reconnaissance trips and contributing or leading proposal writing as well as developing marketing materials. Individuals may also provide technical and thought-leadership support to ongoing governance programs, and conduct research and analysis of governance trends and issues. Individuals may also support the development of technical and strategic documents (for example, Work Plans and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Plans).
