Job Description
The SUCCESS Program is an education program for students with intellectual disabilities.  A partnership between the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and the Maryland Department of Disabilities, SUCCESS is a pilot program that will enable Marylanders with intellectual disabilities to develop their independence, problem solving and employment skills. The Arc Baltimore is also partnering with the program
 
The Employment Support Specialist will provide training and support for the students and their business co-workers to ensure the students’ success during worksite rotations on the UMBC campus.
 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Essential Job Duties:
 
  • Provide individualized support for students at the worksite rotations to include:  job coaching, building natural supports, identifying job accommodations, assistive technology, etc.
  • Communicate effectively with SUCCESS program team, co-workers and worksite supervisors as it relates to the person being trained. These decisions may be related to continued job coaching, fading, behavior, job tasks, problem solving of issues related to training and acquisition of employment skills, etc.
  • Perform specific job analysis, task analysis, and job matching activities.
  • Train students in the areas of grooming, hygiene, communication, interviewing and behavior as they relate to successful employment.
  • Participate in decision-making process to identify and implement training strategies and/or services with other members of the SUCCESS program team.
  • Assist in the job development, placement and follow-up of students in competitive employment on the campus or in the community.
Non-Essential Job Duties:
 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
 
 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:


  • High School Diploma/GED required; AA degree preferred.
  • Experience with youth and adults w/ disabilities preferred.
  • Outstanding written, oral, organizational, computer and time management skills necessary; independent and self-directed.
  • Current UMBC student preferred.
  • Must be available Monday – Thursday, 1:00pm – 4:00 pm, some Friday availability would be desirable too between 10:00am-4:00pm
 
 

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Position requires frequent standing, walking and sitting.
  • Must have valid Maryland driver’s license and clean driving record.
