Job Description

St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore seeks to hire a part-time Water Safety Instructors for Camp St. Vincent, a free therapeutic summer camp for homeless children in Baltimore City and County, located in the Patterson Park area of Baltimore City.  Multiple positions available.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Responsible for daily supervision and water safety instruction of small groups of campers during swim session.  Also responsible for oversight of volunteer counselors while assisting in the pool.

Position Details:Seasonal position. Part-time, 4-6 hours per day Monday through Thursday from  June  August.  Paid pre-camp training and a criminal background check also required.

 Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older and/or a high school graduate by summer.
Ability to commit to 8 weeks of uninterrupted work and pre and post camp planning meetings.
Must have current (unexpired) Red Cross or similar certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR.
Experience as a camper or working with children as a leader or assistant leader in a day or residential camp environment.
Excellent verbal and communication skills.
A desire and ability to work with children outdoors.
Capable of implementing daily activities and completion of minor administrative tasks through verbal and written communication.
Be physically able to accompany the campers to any of the camp activities.
Ability to displays enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control.
Successful completion of background screening.

Hourly Rate: $15.50
