Job Description

Fibertek is a leading developer of laser and electro-optic systems for the aerospace community, with key contributions to lasers for atmospheric sensing, laser communications, and lidar sensors for NASA, DoD, and commercial customers. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our headquarters division onsite in Herndon, VA. As the HR Generalist, you will play a vital role in various functions of the Human Resource department, including performance management, talent management, compensation, benefits administration, and employee relations.


Essential job duties:

  • Manage performance appraisal process and work one-on-one with managers and employees to assist with coaching, goal setting, career development, and disciplinary actions.
  • Align HR processes and programs to support overall business plans and strategies.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs to meet specific business and development needs.
  • Assist with the administration of various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Work with offsite PM's on HR related issues and assist offsite personnel at multiple locations.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts.
  • Assist with benefits administration.
  • Assist with employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing.
  • Assist in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Maintain human resource information system records and compile reports from the database.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Job Requirements

Experience and expertise required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources or a similar role
  • Working knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and MS Office Suite
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Experience with benefits administration
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace environment
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred
  • Experience in conducting employee onboarding and exit interviews
  • Ability to develop and implement HR policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with performance management systems
  • Capacity to adapt to a fast-paced and changing work environment
